A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman – Melinda Gates.
Here at CountryNet we have a strong team, consisting of many team members all committed to our cause. One of the leaders in our CountryNet team is our Operations Manager, Melissa Kendall.
After 8 years with us, Melissa is our Jill-of-All-Trades and you’ve likely spoken with her if you’ve given us a call for anything. You might know the voice at the end of the phone line, but we’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to her if you haven’t met and hopefully you can get to know Melissa and CountryNet a bit more.
Melissa is a true Central Coast local having moved to the area 20 years ago.
“I just love the Central Coast for its lifestyle. It’s a great mix of everything that you could want with beaches, bush walks, not too much traffic and best of all I work only 5 minutes from home. That’s part of the beauty of the Central Coast, everything is so close,” Melissa says.
Before Melissa joined the CountryNet team, she was busy running her family mowing and fencing business with her husband. A desire to return to full-time work, a strong focus on customer service and enthusiasm saw her walk into a job at CountryNet. Starting in a reception and support role to the Chief Executive Officer, Melissa progressed with the business as it grew and has served in range of roles throughout the company.
“I’ve pretty much done everything here at CountryNet except the coding. Sales, service, support now operations, it’s been a wonderful place to work and develop together. I really feel like I know CountryNet very well and have been part of the team that has built it from the ground up.
“The thing that I love most about being part of the CountryNet team is seeing the direct benefit that we have in schools. So many schools and staff in schools are time poor, but knowledge rich. We help them save some of their time, so they can help share their knowledge and focus on what education is about – teaching and helping to grow children. I often reflect on that point and take a lot of personal satisfaction from it.”
Besides that, Melissa will testify to how great CountryNet is to work at, “It’s a genuine family friendly atmosphere here at CountryNet so we’re a close team. We all know that flexibility is needed occasionally for family matters and CountryNet is a supportive workplace.”
“I also love the generosity of our team. It’s not just through our CountryNet Connected Communities Grants and Scholarships, but collectively as a company we support Compassion Children. And have contributed to various charitable organisations both locally and globally. We walk the walk when it comes to educational development around Australia and the world.”
Outside of work helping to build school communities at CountryNet, Melissa is a busy mother of three children and dealing with the next stage of life – the first child to soon leave home.
“All of my kids went to school locally and still live at home but my eldest is about to move out. I’m a sad and nervous about it. She’s moving away for work and the house will be just that little bit quieter without her,” Melissa said.
Say hello to Melissa next time you call CountryNet.
